His greatest joy was his family especially becoming a Papa. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren beyond measure. His eyes lit up when one of the little ones walked in. He would always talk about growing up in a big loving family. He was one of sixteen children and shared so many wonderful stories and memories of a family he was proud of and loved so much. From his father he learned the art of carpentry whether shaping wood into something lasting or fixing what was broken, his hands were steady, skilled and generous.  Whenever there was a broken toy, the grandkids would say “give it to Papa. He can fix anything”.  Charlie was an avid golfer, starting a golf league 40 years ago at Wing Pheasant. His son and grandsons still golf in the league.

He owned a coffee business for many years, CW Maves Coffee. He made friends along the way, known as “Charlie the Coffee Man”. He was so proud of his service in the US Air Force, sharing many stories of the planes and his buddies that some becoming lifelong friends. He became a member of the American Legion Post 931. He was their Chaplin and was affectionately known as “Charlie Chaplin” by many. He moved his family to Victor in 1963. He loved his community and over the years became friends to so many, young and old. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
