Barbara Bernice Sutton Millard

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Barbara Bernice Sutton Millard, who died peacefully, surrounded by her family, on March 31, 2026, at the age of 79.

Born on June 20, 1946, in Buffalo, NY, to Bernice Barbara Wardynski Sutton and Theodore Taft Sutton, Barbara was devoted to her family and friends. She was passionate about cooking and owned over one thousand cookbooks. Holidays and birthdays with her husband, children and grandchildren were the happiest of all her days. No one could turn down her cut-out anise and hartshorn Christmas cookies, the recipe for which was kept top secret. Her homemade pierogies and spaghetti sauce were close second and third favorites with her family.  Barbara reveled in dinner guests enjoying second and third helpings of her home cooking.

She loved attending the choir and band concerts of her grandchildren. She told everyone they were more like her own children and never missed a moment to dote on them. She loved dogs and cats, especially her grand-dog, LadyBugg. Aside from spending time with family and friends, Barbara loved a trip to the casino where you could find her happily content at the slot machine for hours at a time.  She enjoyed watching cooking shows, playing cards, and in earlier years, fishing, picnics, and bowling in leagues with family and friends. She was known to joke and laugh with those close to her heart as well as strangers.

Barbara leaves behind her devoted husband, Gerald Edward Millard, her beloved daughters Cassandra Anita Horihan and Valerie Aileen Millard (Paul Turner). She was a proud grandmother to her cherished grandchildren Andrew Michael Horihan and Grace Nicole Horihan. She was predeceased by her loving brother Carl Raymond Kurzawski.  Barbara will be deeply missed by dear friends and cousins. She will be remembered for her laughter, her dedication to her family, her enthusiasm for music and dancing, particularly Motown and polkas, and for dabbling in various forms of livelihood, including cosmetology, dog grooming, school bus driving and babysitting.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Jarmusz Cotton Funeral Home, located at 26 Maple Avenue, Victor, NY. And I am leaning

You said to trust in your love

And I am trusting

You said to call on your name

And I am calling

I’m stepping out on your word.” – Maya Angelou
