Carol Esther Bowerman Sweet, age 83, passed away on November 19, 2021 in Fairport, New York while residing at Fairport Baptist Homes. Carol was born on October 23, 1938, in Rochester, NY, to Brice William Bowerman Sr. and Ruth Marquis Bowerman.

Carol attended Syracuse University where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and graduated magna cum laude in 1960 with a BS in liberal arts, followed by a Master’s Degree from Purdue University in 1962. She entered a career in teaching, and worked full-time at R.L. Thomas High School where she taught math and computers for 30 years. Carol was a woman of many talents and was able to repair almost anything both inside and outside the home.

She married Donn Robert Sweet on October 13th, 1977 in the Washington, D.C. Temple where they were sealed for time and all eternity. ​​

She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she served in many capacities. She especially enjoyed serving as ward chorister and choir director. Carol had a love of music and enjoyed sharing her talent for singing and playing the piano and clarinet.  Carol was a consummate cat person, always had cats in her home, and enjoyed having a cat napping in her lap.

Carol and Donn operated an LDS Bookstore, Sweet Enterprises, out of their home for over thirty years as they shared a strong desire to provide those in the area access to faith-based materials, serving in particular members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Carol and Donn were also passionate about the theater and found joy in sharing that passion with others.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Donn R. Sweet; her parents Brice William Bowerman Sr. and Ruth Marquis Bowerman; and her brother Alan Bowerman. She is survived by her children Dawn Miller and James Sweet; and her grandchildren Quinn, Griffin and Julian.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 27, at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 460 Kreag Rd, Pittsford, NY. A viewing will be held that day at 10:00 am prior to the service and on Friday, November 26, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Jarmusz Cotton Funeral Home, 26 Maple Ave, Victor, NY.
