Rudolph “Rudi” E. White
Branchport, NY,
Rudi passed peacefully in his home with family by his side on June 26, 2021 at age 76. Rudi is survived by his wife Cheryl; sons Erich, Jody, Wolfgang (Shane), and Seth; daughters Brenda and Becky; granddaughters Riley and Madelyn; cousins Hermine (Hermann) and Brigitte (Wolfgang); extended family; many friends, and his beloved dog Gretta.
Rudi was born in Fussen, Germany and loved to visit his family abroad. He served in Air Force for 4 years active duty and 2 years in the Reserves. He then began his career as a Nurse and retired after many years of dedication.
Enjoyed: tinkering/fixing things, music, dancing, storytelling, and a good cup of coffee.
Hobbies: painting, feeding the birds and fishing, bird watching, engineering new bird feeders (lots of anti squirrel prototypes haha), volunteering, and always finding a new outdoors project.
Rudi volunteered at Milly’s Pantry in Penn Yan, NY, which he thoroughly enjoyed; making repairs and learning the history of the organization, and the building itself. He worked with a wonderful group of volunteers.
He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Rudi lived an exciting life and had many stories to tell, I will miss hearing them. He will be forever loved and missed.
All Funeral Services will be private.
Some connections come late in life but leave an everlasting impression. Rudi was such a loving and unique soul that will forever radiate light on those that he cared for and loved. Long lunch time conversations of life, philosophy, history and periodic German lessons at Milly’s were just the beginning of the blossoming relationship that Rudi and I had. We became so close. We became family. We greeted and parted with hugs and kisses on the cheek as though we had known each other all our lives. He said I was like a ‘Enkelin’ (granddaughter in German). And he, he, was like a loving grandfather to me. I wish I had a chance to know him longer but I know the impact that he has left with me will last my lifetime.
I am grateful to have known this most amazing person. Rudi, you are missed and your love and memories will carry us through until the day we meet again.
All my love and care to Chery, little Gretta, and the family to carry the bright light Rudi shared with everyone he met!
Always- Denise and Gavin
Rudi was an amazing soul. Milly’s was extremely lucky to have him volunteer to be our handyman. He is missed. Sending prayers and fond memories for all of you.
Rudi was a pleasure to work with at The Pinwheel Market. He unearthed many treasures that spoke to the buildings history and enjoyed sharing those finds with the other volunteers. I will miss our chats while Rudi was having a cup of coffee in the market. We have lost a wonderful man.
