Gary Wood, of Victor, NY, passed away on November 23, 2024, at the age of 77.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret, his daughter, Courtney Wood, his son Chris Wood, and his brothers: Robert Wood, Ray Wood, and Leland Wood. He is also survived by many other extended family members near and far.
Gary is a graduate of Penn State University and a proud Vietnam Veteran, where he served in the US Army.
Gary had a never-ending entrepreneurial spirit. We know how active he was in various communities, always eager to meet new friends and dream of the “next big thing.” Gary was an active member of his church, St. John’s, and the local networking/business community. Our family is incredibly grateful to all who offered a part of their life to support his own. His heart was full of love and friendship.
His memorial service will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Victor, NY, at noon on December 28, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the National Coalition of Homeless Veterans in Gary’s honor.
I met Gary through The August Group when we were both “between opportunities”. He was a good guy, I’m glad to have known him, and he’ll be missed. I wish his family warmth and good memories.
Margaret, I’m very sorry for the loss of your husband Gary. My wife Donna and I met you a couple of times at veteran events. I met Gary when we were both between jobs and we had an immediate connection since we were both from Pennsylvania and Penn State graduates. He was a great man. I was unaware he passed away in November 2024 until I saw his name listed in Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 20 newsletter Between the Lines today. We moved back to northeastern Pennsylvania on November 1, 2020. Rest in peace Gary.
