Keith P. Sokolowski, 61, of Penn Yan, NY, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Geneva General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Keith was a proud graduate of Penn Yan Academy, Class of 1982, and went on to earn an associate degree in business from Finger Lakes Community College. He spent much of his career at the Beverage Baron in Penn Yan, where he eventually became the co-owner and operator alongside his lifelong friend, brother, and “partner in crime,” Tubsy.
Keith was known not only for his strong work ethic but also for his passions outside of work. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, tending to his meticulously kept gardens, and playing horseshoes with his closest friends. He never passed up the chance to sit around a campfire with loved ones—especially with his backyard neighbor, Stephen Chappell, whom he considered the son he never had. His laughter—loud, infectious, and unforgettable—was a signature presence in the Penn Yan community, as was his generosity toward many local organizations.
He was predeceased by his parents, Stephen and Arlene Sokolowski, and his sisters, Elgerine Hemer, Laurie Thompkins, and Shirley Sokolowski.
Keith is survived by his two daughters, Kaitlyn (Zackery) Keefer of Penn Yan, and Lindsay (David) Montgomery of Shortsville; and his three beloved grandchildren, Maggie, Atlas, and Piper Montgomery. He is also survived by his brother Rick (Cheryl) Sokolowski of Penn Yan; sister Cindy (Roy) Woodard of Dresden, NY; brother and best friend Kyle “Tubsy” Sokolowski of Hammondsport; and sister Michele Sokolowski of Waxahachie, TX. Keith also leaves behind a large and loving extended family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends.
A celebration of Keith’s life will be held at his home at 1500 Outlet Road, Penn Yan, NY, on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. Please join us in honoring his life, his laugh, and his legacy by raising a glass in his memory
My sincere condolences to the family. Keith was truly a good man who will be missed by so many.
