Loren was born in Canandaigua, New York, on December 7, 1950 and grew up in Victor, New York. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Gail, his sister Sue Mills, niece Jennifer, nephew Michael, great niece and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends, especially the Bohm family. Loren was preceded in death by his father Merle, his mother Lucille, and his uncle Bud Peglow and his aunt Carol Simonds. Loren was full of life and enjoyed many outdoor activities. He loved riding and racing motorcycles, camping, but most of all was an avid fisherman. No matter what Loren was doing he was all in at 100%. He never did anything halfway and did not hesitate to ask others come along for the ride. Loren always lit up a room and never knew a stranger. People were always drawn to him because of his sweet smile, open heart and love of everyone. Loren honorably served in the Unites States Navy for four years including two deployments to Vietnam. After his military service Loren attended college and started his career in the aircraft industry that lasted for 25 years. His job as a field service engineer allowed him to live in Bordeaux, France for six years where he had many adventures discovering the culture, customs, food and landscape of France and other sites in Europe. In 2001 Loren felt called to full-time ministry, gave up his career in the aircraft industry and attended Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where he earned his Master of Divinity Degree. Loren had a passion to serve the Lord in the area of evangelism and outreach. After seminary Loren was commissioned in the North American Mission Board and served at the local associational office. Loren then served as part-time associate pastor at Believers Southern Baptist Church until his retirement in 2018. Loren started the local Horseshoe Ministry that has since shared the gospel with thousands of people. He also served more than nine years as Chaplain at the Juvenile Detention Center and Judge Riddel Boys Ranch. He also had the honor of serving as a Chaplain for the Wichita Police Department and the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s. Loren’s greatest joy in life was the salvation he received through his faith in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior and the honor of serving and loving others in Christ’s name.
Loren’s memorial service will be held on Saturday May 3rd 11 a.m. at the Jarmusz Cotton Funeral Home (26 Maple Ave. Victor, NY). Interment will be private.
