**Sharon Elaine Sprague**

*August 9, 1946 – December 22, 2024*

Sharon Elaine Sprague, 78, passed away on December 22, 2024. Born in Rochester, NY, on August 9, 1946, she was known for her warmth, humor, and deep faith. Sharon’s early years included being crowned Jr. and Sr. Prom Queen and Miss New York State Apple Blossom Queen. She studied at SUNY Fredonia before marrying and becoming a loving mother, grandmother, and friend.

Sharon is survived by her children, Michelle Zuhlsdorf, Scott Gardner, Julie (Stephen) Wooster; her eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brothers Randy and Geoffrey (Dee Ann) Holloway; and many other family members and friends. Her greatest legacy was the love she gave her family, including her resilience through life’s challenges. She was a lover of music, jokes, storytelling, and performing, bringing joy to friends, family, and those at St. John’s Meadows, where she worked.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Esther and Jerry Holloway. In honor of her memory, we recall words from a musical she loved: “The hills are alive with the sound of music, with songs they have sung for a thousand years. The hills fill my heart with the sound of music. My heart wants to sing every song it hears.”
—“The Sound of Music,” sung by Maria
