Sandra Lovejoy, also known as Sandy, Sam (to her best friend and love of her life), mom and grandma, passed away surrounded by those who love her in her home on October 1, 2024.  Sandy, born on October 2, 1948 to Charles and June Jensen, grew up in Geneva, NY with her sisters, Linda and Judy.  The daughter of a motorcycle racer, she savored the smell of racing fuel and, through the racing community, met the man who would become her husband, Richard (Dick) Lovejoy. Sandy and Dick were married September 9, 1967, and created a life that served as the foundation for the family they built over the years.

A graduate of Geneva High School, Sandy lived in Victor, NY raising her children, working for the Victor school district and volunteering for the Victor Farmington Ambulance Corps and Fishers Fire Department.  Once her children graduated, she went on to work for Wades, Detection Systems and ultimately, REDCOM where she retired.  She and Dick moved to Italy, NY to be near their children and grandchildren and, since retirement, have embraced their time together living every day to the fullest.

Sandy is survived   by her husband of 57 years, and best friend, Dick Lovejoy and her children, Kim (Tim) Hey and Charlie (Cathy) Lovejoy and her grandchildren Josh (Gabby) Hey, Samantha (LaQuan) Shaw, Sarah Lovejoy, Mike Hey, and Ryan (Matt) Lovejoy.  She is blessed with seven great grandchildren.  She is also survived by her sisters Linda (Donald) Dillman and Judy Jensen, sister-in-law Dixie (Bruce)Gardner and brother-in-law Ben (Kathy) Lovejoy.  She is further survived by many relatives and cherished friends.

Sandy was predeceased by her beloved son, Justin Lovejoy and parents Charles and June (Carson) Jensen.  We take comfort knowing that she left our loving embrace to enter theirs.  Her fingerprint will forever remain in the lives she has touched, but most vividly on those of her husband, children and grandchildren to whom she committed a lifetime of love.

Calling hours for Sandy will held be at Jarmusz Cotton Funeral home on Sunday, October 6th from 3pm-6pm.  Her funeral will be on Monday, October 7th at 2pm at South Perinton United Methodist Church followed by a burial ceremony at the South Perinton Cemetery.

The family will be receiving family and friends at the Potter Fire Department following her service.

If you choose, in lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Sandy’s name to Camp Good Days & Special Times.
