Derna A. Ivey
Jan 1932 – Oct 2023
Derna passed away on October 5, 2023 at the age of 91. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Ivey; father Michael Forner, mother Derna (Bozzi) Altmann and step-father Franz Altmann, sister Anita Mößner and Brother Alessandro Altmann. She is survived by her two children, Gerald (Rebecca) Ivey and Michael Ivey, granddaughter Talia (Timothy) Henehan; as well as three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Quinn and Alexa. Derna is also survived by her nieces Claudia Wünsch-Krasniqi and Tanya (Herbert) Böck, and several great nephews in Augsburg, Germany, as well as her brother Michael (Ronel) Forner Jr., nieces and nephew Eleanor, Olivia, and Michael in South Africa.
Derna was born in Le Havre, France on January 4, 1932 and was primarily raised in Augsburg, Germany. She married Robert Ivey on July 4, 1950 who had been stationed there both during and after WWII. She came to the United States in 1952 with her 1-year-old son in tow. It was a difficult decision to leave her home country and her family, especially knowing very little English. However, she embraced her new country and built a life here with her new family, first in Binghamton, NY then moving to Victor in 1964. She loved to sew and worked part-time as a seamstress, mostly for family, friends and neighbors. She was married to Robert for 67 years until his passing in early 2018.
We will remember our mother and Oma as a loving soul who would invite just about anybody to her table for a meal. She loved her family dearly and doted on us all. We hope she rests in peace with all of her loved ones who have gone before her.
At the request of the family, there will be no calling hours or services at this time.
Beautiful Thalia.
I loved Nina like she was my other mother and she will always have a special place in my heart. Always! I can just see her and Bob dancing and laughing just how it should be. Love to you and the whole family and I’m glad I got to know and spend some time with this very special lady. 💕🙏
May my dear sister Nini rest in peace.
Nina was an amazing woman. When we first moved in next door, she came right over and welcomed us to the neighborhood. Anytime we were outside at the same time she would make sure to say hi, and see how we were doing. Always asking how our son was doing, and asking him about school. He always enjoyed seeing her, and making sure she was his first stop on Halloween.
We will truly miss her, but cherish all the memories we have with her. Rest in peace Nina.
