John Durham of Farmington, NY passed away suddenly Sunday August 27, 2023 at age 70. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 47 years Jane, three sons, two daughters – in – law and grandsons.
Bradford of Farmington, Jared (Jen) of Geneva, Richard (Jacki) and grandsons Finn and Ben of Auckland New Zealand.
John leaves behind sister Carol of Webster, twin brother James of Victor, an aunt, cousins, nephew, nieces, great nephews, great niece. And furry companion Molly.
John was born in Jamestown, NY to Alan and Elsie Durham. After moving to the Rochester area he graduated from Gates Chili High School where he was active in long distance running and singing in choral groups. He is also a graduate of MCC.
He was employed for 35 years at Gannett Rochester Newspapers as a copy editor and paginator.
John served as a dispatcher, Vice President, Fund Drive Chairman and Loan Closet Co-Chairman at the Victor Farmington Ambulance becoming a life member.
He was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs and New Orleans Saints. He enjoyed golfing in leagues and tournaments, reading, watching movies and any chance to debate politics.
Friends are asked to donate to Victor Farmington Ambulance (1321 East Victor Road Victor, NY 14564) or Lollypop Farm Humane Society of Greater Rochester (99 Victor Road Fairport, NY 14450) in his memory.
Calling hours will be Friday September 8th 3-6 p.m. at Jarmusz Cotton Funeral Home (26 Maple Ave. Victor, NY). A private burial service will be held at a later date.
