Dolores A. Gmeinweiser
Passed away peaceful on August 28, 2022 at age 81. She was surrounded by her family. Dolores is survived by her sister Kathleen Dudley; children Kathleen Mashewske, Frank (Michelle) Gmeinweiser and Charles (Dina) Gmeinweiser; grandchildren Justin, Reanne, Valerie, Jesse, Charles Jr. and Matthew.
Dolores was a mother, sister, grandmother and wife. Fiercely independent she was an honest and observant women who spoke her mind. Growing up she was the “fun” mom and ours was the house everyone wanted to be at. She always made you feel safe, welcome and like you had a place to go.
She received her GED and earned a college degree in her 30’s and was the Director of Communication’s for the Urban League of Rochester.
Dolores loved words, reading them writing them and saying them.
The world is a quieter place without her and she will be missed.
So blessed to have had this woman in my life when I was growing up. She was always so welcoming and would lend an ear anytime. I thought that she was hilarious and she made laugh all of the time with her little quirky things and sayings! I will miss her! She will always be my second mom and I will always love her.
I am very sorry to learn of Delores’ passing. She was a valued member of the Planning and Research staff at the Urban League of Rochester for a number of years. She was passionate about social Justice issues, and a strong advocate for those causes. She had a great sense of humor about many things and was highly regarded by her colleagues. It was my pleasure to work with her.
