On Tuesday October 19th, 2021, Joe Snowden, husband, father, brother and uncle passed away at Ontario Rehab Center in Hopewell, NY.
Born in 1943 in Marceline, Missouri where he grew up and attended school. He attended the University of Missouri Columbia and also attended Fullerton Jr. College in California. At the age of 16 he flew with his brother Jim to California in a paper airplane without too many incidents barely clearing the mountainous region. He spent a 50 year career as a licensed Fire Protection Designer in Missouri, Texas, Tennessee, New York and Minnesota.
Joe is survived by his wife Dawn of 49 years, son Jeff and brother Jim (Anette). He is predeceased by his parents Carlos and Ruby (Coy), brothers Carlos and Thomas Lester. His ashes will be scattered by his brother Jim in Marceline, Missouri.
Joe was a good friend as teens growing up, the last time I saw him he was in Marceline for a class reunion. I am so sorry for your loss, may he Soar With the Angels.
I met Joe at 3 years old at his 4th birthday party. Lived a block apart and played, hunted, and did all things little boy just about every day. In high school we did the motor bikes and car thing and played hooky in his old 53 Chevy. As young men we ran the night streets of St Louis and lived to tell about it. We stayed in touch all through our adult years and had family visits back and forth. We were always connected at the hip one might say right up to his passing. One of the last times I saw him was at his country place in upstate New York. The fall colors were in the mountain trees and we went to an airshow in his R V. My memories of him always brings a smile. He was a genuinely good person and may he rest in peace.
Growing up in Marceline was a treat and a big part of that was being one of Joe’s friends. I still think of on his Vespa or riding around in his ’54 Chevy.
