Victoria A. (Dawson) O’Neill, 64, of Victor passed away at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY, on July 1, 2021, after a brief, courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of William (Bill) H. O’Neill and adored mother of Sean and Erin, the loves of her life. All three remained unflinchingly steadfast by Victoria’s side throughout her illness.
Born in Lowville on December 22, 1956, she was the daughter of William Dawson and Elizabeth (Steiner) Dawson of Croghan. She graduated from highschool in California in 1974 and earned an Associate’s Degree in accounting from FLCC.
For many years, Victoria worked alongside Bill as co-owner of their business, O’Neill Sales.
Victoria loved her family and friends fiercely, and she was loved fiercely in return. She acted as a mother to many. She will be remembered for her deep love of family, her kindness, her warm and loving nature, and her infectious laugh. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, bright colors and vibrancy in all things, and live music — especially Bill’s band.
In addition to her husband Bill, she is survived by her son Sean O’Neill and his wife Kristin Dell of Pittsford; daughter, Erin O’Neill and her husband Mark Nixon, Jr. of West Hartford, CT; brothers and sisters Bob Dawson, Tim Dawson, Bill Dawson, Patricia Nyhof, Patrick Dawson and Rebecca O’Connor, along with their respective spouses and partners; and a myriad of nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call on Friday, July 9, from 4 – 8 p.m. at Jarmusz Cotton Funeral Home, 26 Maple Avenue in Victor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 10, at 11 a.m., at St. Bridget’s Church, 15 Church Street, Bloomfield. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Victor.
Flowers or contributions to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network in Victoria’s memory are appreciated.
So saddened by this news. I am blessed to have know her. She actually taught me a lot in my early DMV days. She had a smile that was contagious and she always had a grin when she dropped off those rum balls! Holy cow that’s because she used a whole bottle for a batch! lol. We will miss her and my heart goes out to all of you. Such a wonderful family . Hugs to all of you
I WAS SHOCKED AND SADDENED TO HEAR ABOUT VICKI’S PASSING. I HAVE SUCH GOOD MEMORIES OF OUR SNOWMOBILING DAYS. EVEN IN THE HARD TIMES IN BUSINESS SHE ALWAYS HAD A SMILE AND WAS SO VERY HELPFUL. MY HEARTFUL SYMPATHY GOES OUT TO BILL AND ALL THE FAMILY..
