Kriss Larsen, of Farmington, NY, passed away peacefully July 22, 2021 with family by her side at the House of John, due to progression of uterine cancer.
Love of music was a main theme of Kriss’s life. Although she maintained day jobs throughout her life, she satisfied her love of music by teaching, and such activities as singing and dancing with the Capers and Happy We on Cape Cod, MA; performing in dinner theater in Virginia; singing operatic roles at the University of Maryland during graduate school; producing/performing one-woman shows in NYC; singing songs of the 30s and 40s in benefits for non-profits in Durango, CO with life partner Tom MacCluskey; and directing an a cappella women’s barbershop chorus in Durango (The Women’s Prerogative) and a community chorus in Mancos, CO (Mancos Valley Chorus).
At Kriss’s request there will be no prior calling hours. A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date for immediate family. Kriss requested no flowers—just prayers for her entry into her new spiritual home. If any donations are desired to be made, please make them to The House of John, 14 Spring Street, Clifton Springs, NY 14432 or Ontario-Yates Hospice, 756 Pre Emption Road, Geneva, NY 14456 She is predeceased by parents William Chris and Janice Goodenow Larsen and her partner Tom MacCluskey. She is survived by sister Jody (Paul) Pruitt, brother Bill (Karen) Larsen, several nieces and nephews and friends.
What a beautiful person inside and out! She will be missed!
If this is the Kriss Larsen that sang with Rosemary Costa on the Cape, I am so very, very sorry to hear that her voice is
silenced! Kriss came to our house in Chatham often the summers she sang in Orleans, both during the day to visit,
and at night to have something to eat with the cast! She and Marc would often call my mother at 12:30 pm and ask if
there was coffee and desert on.. and after the last number they would change and head to Chatham where my mother
would feed them all! I even made her a Peach Pie for her birthday one year…It is still the one and only pie I have ever
made!! I have a very special place in my heart for this wonderful, kind, talented, warm, compassionate, woman and
have no doubt she is singing in heaven!!
