Passed away on July 19, 2021 at age 90. He was predeceased by his wife Ruth, sister and brother-in-law Gertrude (LG) Meyers. Knute is survived by his son Richard (Heather) Halvorson; grandson Andrew Halvorson of Georgia; brother John (Linda) of Illinois; sister Mary Taylor of Wisconsin and many friends. 1948 graduate of Kingsford High School in Michigan, and was in the Navy for 4 years. In 1952 he married Ruth. He worked for Iron Mines in Michigan and Gardner Denver Co. in Virginia for 36 years. He moved to the Buffalo area in 1958 and settled in Victor in 1973. He and his wife Ruth volunteered at the Food Cupboard and with Meals on Wheels. Knute liked sports – golf, baseball, football and hockey. He was a long time member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Victor.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church Memorial Fund (888 County Road 9 Victor, NY 14564) in his memory.
Calling hours will be Monday July 26th from 4-7 p.m. at Jarmusz Cotton Funeral Home (26 Maple Ave. Victor, NY). Knute’s Funeral Service will be celebrated on Tuesday July 27th 1p.m. at St John’s Lutheran Church (888 County Road 9 Victor, NY). Interment Boughton Hill Cemetery.
Pops I want to thank you and Ruth for taking me into this family and loving me the way you did. I will forever cherish the conversations and the stories that we shared. It was an honor to be with you at the end. Now it’s time for that pipe. My buddy forever, HANG LOOSE, I love you
Our sincerest condolences to Knute’s Family. Although we only knew Knute for a short time, he left a lasting impression…he was a sweet man and we enjoyed his sense of humor! Prayers that you are able to remember many good memories while you navigate this difficult time.
