Looney, Robert L.
Victor, NY
Robert L. Looney, a.k.a. Skier Bob, loved to joke. He quipped, “We lived in the ‘high peaks’ of Jay, NY, in the ‘low land’ of Victor, NY, and now I’ll try ‘under the ground.’” Born in Medford, MA on January 13, 1931, Bob lived almost 90 years, passing away December 8, 2020.
Bob leaves his loving and devoted wife, Alice Looney. He was the father of six children—Patrick, Sheila (Tim), Daniel, Michael (Elizabeth), Seana (Russel), and Sharon (Ben)—and grandfather of ten —Joshua, Ashley, Luke, Paige Pauline, Alexandra, Brynn (Nick), Sarah, Dylan, Felicia, and Jacob. He is also survived by his twin brother, William, and younger brother, Lawrence. He was predeceased by his brother, Peter, and his sister, Patricia.
Bob was a Navy veteran (1951-1954), a travelling salesman, and a corporate vice president. Later he established Maximum Space Systems in Western New York. Upon retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, Alice, his grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was an avid alpine skier.
Donations in his memory to Honor Flight, Rochester or Joslin Clinic, Boston MA.
I hadn’t seen Bob for many, many years. I knew him from the ad biz. If I remember correctly
he and some friends from Rumrill Hoyt established their own agency on East Avenue, Rochester.
I had the lone media planning and buying service in town and they called me to do media work
for their clients. I guess they didn’t get enough clients and the agency closed. Bob went on to
something else and called me to help out. That never developed. Also enjoyed talking with him
and he seemed a squared up guy that I could do business with. I’ll bet he had a full filling life after
that. And that’s good. Sorry for your loss but glad to have known him.

R I P Robert. The world has lost a great human being, however heaven is now a better place to be , as a result of his now residing there. My heart felt condolences to his lovely wife Alice. He was one of my two guardian angels, who helped me through a horrible skiing accident in 2006. I often thought of him as the brother I never had. With my deepest sympathies, Robert A Rusignuolo(aka Rosie)
