Abraham, John Richard (Dick)
John Richard Abraham (Dick) of Victor, 96, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2020. He was born in Canandaigua and moved to Victor when he married Madalyn Keefe in 1952. He was a parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church, an active member of the church choir, a soloist, and a fourth degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. Singing was his passion whether it be religious hymns, Irish tunes or patriotic music. He was a member over the years of the Victor Community Chorus, American Legion and Lion’s Club. As a Veteran, Dick enjoyed participating in the Memorial Day parade and in later years relished riding in the most expensive car participating in the procession. He worked as an electrician for Kodak prior to retirement. Dick served in the US Army and was stationed in Japan during WWII. His greatest role, however, was that of a loving husband to Midge, father and grandfather.
Dick was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Madalyn Keefe Abraham (Midge), his three brothers, Harold, Bob and Bill Abraham and sister, Betty Schroeder. He is survived by his children Kay (Paul) Barcewicz, James (Marianne) Abraham, Grandchildren Matt, Liz (Scott Hinman), Tom Barcewicz and Megan (Ryan) White, Lindsay (Anthony), Taylor (Mark) and Haley Abraham, Great granddaughter, Maggie Hinman, many nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their appreciation to the St. Patrick’s Church choir who aided Dick in participation right up to the age of 95.
Due to Covid-19, the family plans to have a memorial mass and celebration of Dick’s life in the future.
Interment will be held at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Victor.
Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Patrick’s Church to support the choir ministry.
Great guy, Kodak employee, singer and Knight. Always enjoyed his dancing with Midge. Always smiling. Hope I can get to 96. Peace Dick.
To Uncle Dick, one of the sweetest men I ever knew. RIP and be with Aunt Midge ❤
