Pestar, Hyang “Soo” Mi
Hyang “Soo” Mi Pestar,76, of Victor, New York, died October 27, 2019 at home with her husband by her side. Soo is survived by her husband, William Pestar, of 28 years, 3 sons, Jin(Julie) Quinn of Henrietta, Lee(Tabatha)Quinn of Chili, and Owen(Tiffany)Quinn of Victor; 6 grandsons, Connor, Spencer, Cameron, Nolan, Adam and Maddox Quinn. She was born on May 20, 1943, in Korea. She was a young child during the Korean war and endured serious hardship at this time. At the age of 7, was left home to care for her brother while her parents went to find food for the family. Sadly her mother, Kye Sun Chang Cho never returned home and her father, Chon Il Cho passed away in 1955. While residing in Pusan, Korea until 1973 she made the decision to move to America and spent the majority of her life in Richfield Springs, NY area. She enjoyed sharing her Korean culinary skills with many. Some notable memories were cooking for the Korean Olympic Baseball team & a Japanese Ambassador during his visit to New York. She really treasured meeting famous people, such as Madonna, George Steinbrenner, Carl Banks (NY Giants), O.J. Anderson (NY Giants after they won 1990 Suberbowl XXV ) Chris Mullen (Golden State Warriors), and the singer Debbie Gibson to name a few. She was that sports mom that enjoyed watching all her sons play and cheering them on from the sidelines. She was an avid NY Yankees and NY Giants fan. She enjoyed making floral arrangements and wreaths and was even hired to decorate a prominent attorney’s business office. Most of all, Soo enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
