Nancy was the daughter of Lyle W. Miller from Clifton, NY (d. 1987) and Mildred Barry Miller from Victor, NY (d. 2012). She was born in Rochester, NY and grew up in the country near Scottsville, NY. She attended Caledonia Mumford Central elementary school and later Our Lady of Mercy High School in Rochester graduating in 1968. She received her bachelor degree from the University of Rochester and earned her J.D. degree at Benjamin J. Cardozo Law School at Yeshiva University in NYC where she was a member of the Law Review. She then joined the New York State Bar.
Nancy interned at the Department of Justice for the Eastern District of New York in Brooklyn where she went on to serve as an Assistant United States Attorney for almost 30 years. She was an exceptional litigator with a specialty in complicated medical malpractice, tort and forfeiture cases. Nancy generously shared her years of experience and skill with fellow DOJ attorney as a training coordinator in her office and a special 18 month assignment at the NAC (National Advocacy Center) in South Carolina. She retired in 2017.
Nancy loved her work but also became a yoga enthusiast and taught it in NYC for many years. Nancy loved New York… the people, the culture, the theater, the food. But she also loved growing up in upstate New York and returning to Victor. Nancy enjoyed baking , learning French and traveling. She visited France, Costa Rica, India, Thailand, Mumbai and Myamar with many more on her wish list. She visited family in Arizona and California and loved spending time sitting by the ocean in Laguna Beach, CA. But most of all Nancy loved her friends and family. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions in Nancy’s name to Sloan Kettering Hospital in care of Dr. Bigorin. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church (115 Maple Ave. Victor, NY ).
