Robert J. Graham, Sr.
Passed peacefully September 18, 2018 at age 86.
He was predeceased by his parents, Verna and Glenn Graham of Rochester, NY.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Elsie Hawkins Graham, whom he met at college and married after graduation August 25, 1956; son and daughter-in-law Robert J. Graham, Jr. and Leslie.
Grandchildren: David, Stephen, Kelsey
Brother and sister-in-law John (Jack) Graham and Doris of Fort Myers Beach, FL.; sister-in-law, Mary Hawkins Phillips; brother and sister-in-law, David and Leona Hawkins of Victor.
Uncle John (“Ty”) Whitehair, of Rochester, NY.
Numerous nieces and nephews. And dear friends.
Robert graduated from Geneseo State Teachers College. Taught special education in Victor and Clifton Springs.
He was an avid amateur archeologist, published author of the historical novel “Ashes to the Wind” and the photographic poetry book, “Urban Rhapsody.” In addition, his great love for music led him to play the violin and cymbals at West High and Geneseo bands; and compose four symphonies.
He was also the proud owner of retired City of Rochester Fire Department, Truck 1. A 1972 Peter Pirsch 100’ aerial truck. He painstakingly restored it with the help of his two grandsons. The truck could often be seen on display in his yard, local parades or musters. Long time member of SPAMFA.
Friends are welcome to attend a Memorial Service Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 2:00 PM, at the Victor United Methodist Church (106 East Main St. Victor, NY)
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Victor Fire Department, the Victor United Methodist Church, or Saint Ann’s Leo Center of Care.
